The American
Psychological Association (APA) is looking for a programmer to work on the
development of publishing-related applications. Ideal candidates will have a
few years experience doing comparable work. This is a permanent full-time job
with competitive pay and good benefits. Our office is near Capitol Hill and is
only one block from the Union Station (red line) Metro stop.
Psychological Association (APA) is looking for a programmer to work on the
development of publishing-related applications. Ideal candidates will have a
few years experience doing comparable work. This is a permanent full-time job
with competitive pay and good benefits. Our office is near Capitol Hill and is
only one block from the Union Station (red line) Metro stop.
Applicants should have:
- Experience
developing applications to process and manipulate document-oriented XML using
tools like XSLT, XPath, XQuery, and native XML databases (preferably MarkLogic)
- Familiarity with
XML schemas, DTDs, Schematron, and related technologies
- Significant experience
with modern cross-browser web application development using a dynamic language
on the backend like Python/Ruby/PHP; strong HTML,
JavaScript (Prototype or jQuery), and CSS skills, and the ability to combine
these to build utilitarian user interfaces
- Ability to deal
with relational databases as necessary
Applicants might also have:
- Experience with narrative markup structures in an academic publishing context
- A general interest
in descriptive markup and how it is applied in practice
- Django experience
- Ops/deployment and
full-stack know-how: Linux, Apache, etc.
