Appboy Inc.: iOS Development Lead for NYC Mobile Tech Startup Appboy

Posted by | July 22, 2011 | Web Pro Job Tips

Location: New York City, NY

Appboy is developing an iOS SDK that solves key app marketplace problems and helps users and mobile app developers connect and benefit from each other. With checkins, social sharing, analytics, recommendations, outreach and more, the Appboy SDK is positioned to become an integral tool for mobile application developers to expand their reach and find success.
In July of 2011, the Appboy team expanded to a team of three co-founders (including recent CS alumni from MIT and Harvard) and secured seed investments from respected Silicon Valley and New York venture capital funds as well as Angel Investors to help us expand our software team. We’re now looking for a development lead to drive and help build the iOS SDK. Our direct customers are other software developers, but through their apps, we’re gaining the combined user base of every app we integrate into. As such, we will soon be face to face with an exploding user base and need strong technology to support that growth.
Candidates should have a firm grasp of computer science concepts. We’re writing foundational software, so we need solid, scalable design or we will be in pain as we grow. Candidates should have previous experience building and designing large scale applications and should be able to discuss and defend their design choices. We’re much more interested in finding great technologists with strong abilities and a willingness to learn than we are in finding an encyclopedic knowledge of iOS. However, due to our small size and our aggressive timelines, it is important that candidates have non-trivial experience building for the iOS platform and can hit the ground running.
New employees have the opportunity to receive salary and equity as part of their compensation. We’re currently located in New York City.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with iOS and Objective-C
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, and design
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience handling rapid user growth and large scale
  • Experience working with a small group or at other startups

To apply: Please send resumes to for review.
