Boston University is looking for a professional developer to help us improve our thriving WordPress-powered CMS. This is an onsite full-time temporary position with the possibility to transition to a full-time permanent position sometime this summer.
As a “professional” developer you must:
  • have demonstrated experience writing maintainable code from scratch,
  • value good communication, and
  • have experience reading and modifying the code written by other developers.
You should have experience working with:
  • version control systems (We use Subversion.)
  • semantic HTML (including HTML5)
  • PHP/MySQL
  • WordPress MultiSite
  • WordPress Caching and other WordPress performance optimization techniques
  • JavaScript (especially jQuery)
  • mobile website creation
We also value the intangibles including:
  • a desire to learn,
  • an uncanny ability to know when to do it yourself versus when to ask someone more experienced, and
  • a true passion for web technology.
While there is plenty of WordPress development work, there are opportunities to branch out into other areas of application development down the road.
