Boston University: Professional WordPress Plugin/Theme Developer

Boston University is looking for a professional developer to help us improve our thriving WordPress-powered CMS. This is an onsite full-time temporary position with the possibility to transition to a full-time permanent position sometime this summer. 
As a “professional” developer you must:
  • have demonstrated experience writing maintainable code from scratch,
  • value good communication, and
  • have experience reading and modifying the code written by other developers.
You should have experience working with:
  • version control systems (We use Subversion.)
  • semantic HTML (including HTML5)
  • WordPress MultiSite
  • WordPress Caching and other WordPress performance optimization techniques
  • JavaScript (especially jQuery)
  • mobile website creation
We also value the intangibles including:
  • a desire to learn,
  • an uncanny ability to know when to do it yourself versus when to ask someone more experienced, and
  • a true passion for web technology.
While there is plenty of WordPress development work, there are opportunities to branch out into other areas of application development down the road.

    The Boston University WordPress CMS is an in-house CMS that hosts over 500 official university websites that receives over 5 million page views a month.
