Summary:
ed2go, a division of Cengage Learning, is looking for an experienced web designer to join their marketing team. ed2go is the largest provider of quality online courses for colleges, universities and other higher education providers. As the Web Designer, you will develop digital promotional materials and web sites that are high quality, engaging and interactive. You will need to ensure that our e-marketing materials and web properties are user friendly, compatible with a variety of interfaces, and search engine optimized.
Key Accountabilities:
Design and front-end develop highly-usable web products for ed2go properties following ed2go established branding schemes.
Determine when and where it is best to incorporate multimedia elements into a site to further enhance the user’s experience. Utilize latest technologies to produce and distribute media including audio and video production, interactive elements, and animations. Be able to translate complex information into easily-understood visuals.
Create any original design, multimedia elements, video and audio tracks, etc. to continually update and enhance web properties, how-to demonstrations, and marketing campaigns.
Ensure the quality of design and user experience across multiple platforms including Mac and PC browsers, tablet interfaces, and mobile devices.
Compare ed2go.com with our competition, identify competitors’ weaknesses, and recommend improvements to ed2go.com.
Focus design on usability, accessibility, conversion, and aesthetics.
Progressively enhance web sites to take advantage of newer user experiences.
Ensure all pages are SEO optimized and work closely with our Online Direct Marketing team.
Work very closely with the technology team to ensure all web based activities are fully supported and integrated.
Adhere to project development schedules.
Actively research new delivery methods, technologies, and models for expanding the ed2go brand.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong experience building customer facing e-commerce and corporate web sites
Advanced knowledge of design software programs such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Intermediate knowledge of the following programs: Javascript, Video/Audio editing, Content Management Systems
Excellent project and time management skills
Attention to detail
Must be able to work comfortably on both Mac and PC platforms
Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Some knowledge of the following programs would be great, but is not required: HTML5, CSS3, PHP, MySQL, .NET, Flash, Actionscript
Experience in higher education, publishing, online products or businesses
Search Engine Optimization of websites
Brand building and/or brand management
Please note: This position is located in Temecula, CA but telecommuting is available one day a week.
