Job Responsibilities
Designkitchen is looking for a full-time User Experience professional with a passion for understanding people and designing engaging, elegant experiences for them online and in the mobile space. Do you want to push user experience beyond what’s expected? Keep reading.
 
This role combines sometimes-siloed aspects of user experience: user research and experience strategy, interaction design, information architecture, and usability evaluation, with a bit of content and business strategy sprinkled in. We’re not too into titles – we just like getting down to the business of understanding brands and users and creating meaningful and usable experiences.
 
We’re looking for a User Experience professional who is committed to:
 
  • Understanding our clients’ business and brand strategies and activating those strategies through innovative experiences
  • Understanding people’s wants, needs, expectations and current behaviors / processes; developing personas / scenarios / models / stories as design tools for the team and to increase client understanding
  • Leading user research, concept testing and usability testing; demonstrated ability to apply guerilla user research and usability tactics to solving design challenges as well as more structured methods such as stakeholder interviews, focus groups, user interviews, card sorts, contextual inquiry, heuristic evaluation, and usability evaluation
  • Suggesting and prioritizing appropriate features, content and creative concepts that integrate people’s needs with brand and business objectives
  • Conducting audits of existing experiences based on both functional and emotional communication best practices; preparing reports of findings and improvement recommendations
  • Developing site maps that define information architecture including page hierarchy, navigation schemas, taxonomy and nomenclature
  • Creating interaction diagrams and page-level wireframes and knowing what level of fidelity is appropriate for getting the job done
  • Defining functionality and content management
  • Collaborating closely with visual designers, copywriters, animators, technologists and client services professionals to come up solutions that are achievable and realistic within constraints
  • Embracing the inherent ambiguity in our work
  • Leading user experience discussions and presenting work directly to clients
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience or comparable education applying iterative, user-centered research and design principles to create deliverables such as wireframes, site maps, and prototypes of varying fidelity levels. This is not a visual design position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; graduate degree a plus
Requirements   
  • Experience and interest in defining big-picture user experience strategy as well as the details of information architecture and interaction design
  • Experience using Omnigraffle, Visio, or Adobe InDesign, or similar programs as wireframing tools with dedication to quickly learning our technique for integrating InDesign with custom asset libraries to create documentation
  • Solid understanding of front-end and back-end technologies
  • Solid understanding of content strategy
  • Excellent client service, presentation, and team skills
  • A portfolio of work you can show us that demonstrates experience with the above
