MISSION STATEMENT
Motivated by Christ’s love, this position plays a
key role in promoting the wholistic ministry of Food for the Hungry (FH)
through the framework of the organization’s vision, “God called and we
responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.”  In
order to accomplish this vision, FH’s mission is to “walk with churches
leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living
in healthy relationship with God and His creation.”
SUMMARY
The Digital Media Publisher is responsible for preparing and coding
digital media documents for publication on the FH website, HTML emails
and social media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
Key Result #1 – Prepare documents for publication on the FH website (50% of time)
  • Code
    Web pages using user interface best practices, including accessibility
    and usability using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other scripting to develop
    well-designed web pages Joomla and Expression Engine.
  • Create scripts, applications, and APIs using PHP, Perl, and other languages.
  • Embed multimedia, including photo galleries, slideshows, and videos in Web pages.
  • Research
    and track trends in Web design, coding, and functionality such as
    social media. Speak into options for management and senior staff.
  • Adhere to and enforce FH website according to policies and procedures in place at the time.
  • Other duties as requested.
Key Result #2 – Prepare HTML emails (20% of time)
  • Code
    HTML emails into the appropriate email sending platform, properly
    linking to landing pages on the FH website and testing all emails and
    landing pages for quality across various browsers and email receiving
    platforms, including mobile.
  • Appropriately blast emails as directed by the Director of Digital Media Marketing.
  • Report
    email statistics to the Director of Digital Media Marketing as needed
    (number of emails sent, bounce rate, unsubscribe rate, click rate).
  • Other duties as requested.
Key Result #3 – Support the Director of Digital Media Marketing in preparing and maintaining social media accounts (30% of time)
  • Make
    sure Facebook, Twitter, blogs and social media platforms are
    attractive, working properly and using leading-edge technology.
  • Assist in posting appropriate messages on Facebook, Twitter and FH blogs as needed.
  • Prepare a monthly report about social media statistics.
  • Other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Ability to sit at a computer for 8 hours a day doing repetitive motions on a keyboard

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Skill in coding Web pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other scripting such as Perl and PHP.
  • Skill using Joomla and Expression Engine.
  • Skill in visual design of Web pages.
  • Skill in using Photoshop to create and optimize images.
  • Skill in using Flash to develop animations and embedded videos.
  • Skill in written communication.
  • Knowledge of user interface principles, including intuitive navigation schemes, accessibility, and usability.
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0, mobile, social media, and other innovative Web technologies.
  • Ability to clearly and consistently organize, manage and present complex information.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (web development or related) from four-year College
or university; three years related experience; or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None
LANGUAGE SKILLS.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.  Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to
effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
