At I²R, we work daily to improve our customer’s manufacturing capabilities. Our customer are extremely diverse and spread all over North America (and a few internationally). Our customers make roofing shingles, process poultry and beef, distill water, bottle apple juice, roast coffee, and fry potato chips.
Customers call us when they want to make more products, faster and better than before. They call us when the line is down and no one knows why. They call us when they have a mountain of live data, but can’t make heads or tails of it all.
You will be working with small teams of other engineers to get acclimated to our industry and its unique tools. We need someone who loves solving difficult problems, relatively short project cycles, and seeing real life results. We need someone who dives head first into new programming environments and new problems. We also need someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands (and clothes) dirty. We need someone to take personal ownership of a project and its success.
You are someone who is programming language agnostic, but have a few in your toolbox. You might have taken a few electrical engineering classes in college or played around with a hobby microcontroller. You’re no stranger to SQL databases, and can whip up a script to make a task a bit easier. You might have some experience with a multimeter and know the difference between digital and analog.
Our work can often be challenging and demanding. You will often be involved in several projects from beginning to end, all at the same time. When things aren’t working, our customers are losing money.
