Ideal Person
IndieGoGo is seeking an exceptional designer to join our product team and lead the UX design.  You will be our “Empathizer in Chief”, championing our user needs, while also balancing the technology and business needs.  You are eager to learn new methods and technologies, and will tirelessly evangelize user experience and usability best practices throughout the organization.  You know when to share informed opinions and when to sit back and listen, and have experience relating to others from different disciplines and backgrounds and incorporating insights from many different perspectives into your work.
This position is based in San Francisco, CA.
FUN FACT: We believe in lean user experience design thinking, which is why we’re attending the the LUXr program right now.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, refine and document the design of IndieGoGo’s products and user experience
  • Design elegant, simple user interactions that make using IndieGoGo a pleasurable experience
  • Work with our customers, and others in the business to gain deep understanding of “real world” customer needs and business goals
  • Collect valuable feedback and insights in order to drive your design work
  • Document the user experience through user flows, scenarios, storyboards, and pixel-level mockups or prototypes
  • Support the product owner, collaborating with stakeholders, team members and customers in a user-centered design process
  • Design features, define user stories, and work with development teams during implementation to answer questions
  • Act as an experience evangelist, advocating for our members and representing their needs and perspectives to the team
Requirements:
  • A strong passion for learning and a desire to help others
  • Experience designing consumer web applications & demonstrated experience shipping live sites
  • Technical awareness (including HTML/CSS) and the ability to effectively collaborate with the development team
  • Ability to listen effectively, be respectful of others’ perspectives and contributions, and ability to both offer and accept feedback openly
  • Outstanding oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to quickly adapt the content to the audience
  • Must be organized, able to think beyond what is asked for, act independently and juggle multiple projects and competing priorities
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in a UX-related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to create pixel-level mockups and/or clickable high fidelity prototypes is strongly desired
  • Experience working in an agile product development environment is also a plus
