Who we are
Jestro is a small company, bootstrapped and based in beautiful Boise, Idaho. We are currently focused on building two products: The Theme Foundry and Memberful (still in development). If you want to read more about our story see The last 3 years.
Who you are
We are looking for a smart, talented, and self-managed developer who writes and communicates effectively. We don’t have any specific experience requirements, but you must be a programmer at heart. You are familiar with or more than capable of quickly learning how to use: PHP (WordPress / Kohana), Ruby (Rails), JavaScript (jQuery / Ajax), Git, SVN, ORM, OOP, Apache, MySQL, Linux, Bash, HTML, CSS.
Our current team is made up of two founders and a handful of contractors. This means you will be our first full-time employee and have a huge hand in helping shape our young company. It also means you won’t be bored. Much of your time will be spent coding, but you will also be: helping out in our support forums, writing and editing documentation, posting to our blog, and answering customer service emails.
To start, you will mostly be writing PHP and JavaScript, with a heavy emphasis on the WordPress publishing platform and the Kohana framework. We also maintain an internal Rails app you will be working on from time to time. Down the road you may end up playing with other languages like Objective-C and Cocoa. If you’re the type of person we are looking for, you’ll always be excited to learn and experiment with new programming languages.
Some of the tools, software and technology we currently use include: Apple computers, Git and Github for source control, Capistrano for deployment, Linode and Debian for serving our code to the world, Lighthouse to track and squash bugs, Campfire for group chat, and Dropbox for sharing files.
  • You won’t have a manager.
  • Competitive salary and revenue sharing opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefits.
  • Work from home or wherever you work best.
  • Take vacation whenever you need it.
  • Trip to WordCamp San Francisco once per year.
  • Trip to one other conference of your choice.
  • We buy your programming books.
  • We buy your software.

To apply: If you feel you would be a great fit, send your resume to info at and tell us why. Please include [Developer] in the subject line.
