The front-end engineer is responsible for delivering best in class HFPs for new projects and feature enhancements for existing products. They are a perfectionist and see value in working closely with the creative team to ensure that the design and user experience of all sites is executed beautifully at the HFP stage.
You will be a guru in new technologies such as HTML 5, CSS 3, Ajax, jQuery and have proven experience of making websites work across multiple browsers, operating systems and devices such as Android phones, iPhones and iPad. Whilst ensuring that sites look and interact beautifully the front-end engineer also pays close attention to little sometimes forgotten aspects such as loading times, screen resolutions, printing content and that tracking is being effectively implemented correctly.
•Hand code all designs and enhancements using the latest standards and technologies such as HTML 5, CSS3 and responsive layouts
•Become the one point contact for all HFP requirements for all project and products
•Review existing projects and products and provide recommendations for where improvements can be made
•Provide recommendations on how products can be updated and adapted for mobile devices such as iPad, iPhone and Android
•Review designs from a technical perspective and see whether adjustments maybe required to create a better user experience
•Provide recommendations for how interaction should be handled at the HFP stage by using HTML 5, CSS 3, jQuery or Ajax galleries
•Ensure that all sites and features work across key browsers, operating systems and devices
•Work with creative vendors to ensure that HFPs are delivered correctly and have been fully tested
•Work with our development partner to communicate requirements and provide recommendations where necessary
•Test project and features at the QA stage to ensure that all front-end requirements have been implemented correctly
•Provide estimates for completing tasks
•Strong experience in Adobe CS5: Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks to translate provided designs into HFPs
•Outstanding communication skills – which will be required when providing reams of feedback to design partners
•A solid team player – someone who can partner with his or her colleagues
•Ability to comfortably work on multiple projects and products
•Be creative, fast, and self-critical.
•Be collaborative and communicative.
Preferred: Has an understanding or experience in back end technologies such as PHP, MySQL and Drupal.
