Position Summary:
The Experience
Design (XD) Lead is responsible for instilling and ensuring a strong,
strategic, user-centered focus into the culture, practices and output of
the Lucasfilm digital media team. The XD Lead will champion and
advocate for user needs and expectations in the planning, development
and refinement of all Lucasfilm digital initiatives, across all digital
platforms, and will be responsible for ensuring that all digital output
reflects a deep understanding of user experience principles and best
practices.

strategic and managerial responsibilities, and should be comfortable
with an evolving and demanding role and environment. This position
reports to the Senior Director of Digital Media, and may be responsible
for managing direct reports and/or agencies and third-party vendors. As
a key member of the digital media team, the XD Lead will be a
cornerstone of building world-class interactive experiences and
products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of
interface design, interaction models, content structure, ensuring that
all digital initiatives reflect a clear understanding of target audience
behavior, meet audience expectations and needs, and help drive
Lucasfilm’s larger strategic goals. - Own the overall
information architecture of the site, and guide its evolution as needed
to accommodate the growth and changing goals, direction and audience
needs for the site. - Participate in the end-to-end execution
of all significant digital projects, including requirements gathering,
documentation, review and approval, and post-launch assessment, analysis
and refinement. - Assess pain points, identify opportunities,
and develop solutions that improve the overall user experience when
engaging with Lucasfilm properties across all digital platforms. - Conduct
perpetual evaluation and assessment of existing digital offerings, and
help prioritize new features and existing feature revisions based on
impact to audience and strategic agenda. - Create and maintain
all necessary documentation (e.g. wireframes, user flows, site maps,
annotated templates) to guide design and development efforts, and
support user-centric thinking and practices across the digital media
team. - Oversee user tests, focus groups, multivariate
testing, and other UX-centered research efforts, in collaboration with
the Online Analytics & Insights Lead and the Consumer Insights team,
to continually improve Lucasfilm’s digital experiences. - Participate
in the review and approval process for digital initiatives tied to
Lucasfilm IP, e.g. from promotional partners, licensees and agencies, to
help optimize the overall consumer experience of Star Wars and other
Lucasfilm IP across all digital channels. - Support the Sr.
Director of Digital Media in developing and executing the high-level
strategic plan for the larger Lucasfilm digital ecosystem, ensuring that
all digital initiatives both meet their individual objectives and
contribute to a larger, unified brand experience across all digital
touchpoints.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; minimum of 7-10 years of experience in
interactive, either on client or agency side. Experience in both
environments a plus. - Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with web measurement analytics and overseeing user testing, either in-house or in collaboration with vendors.
- Experience integrating quantitative and qualitative feedback into the development process to inform prioritization.
- Formal
training in cognitive science, information sciences, interface design,
human-computer interaction (HCI) or other relevant disciplines, or a
portfolio demonstrating comparable expertise. - Clear and
articulate perspective on user experience, usability and information
architecture, and the ability to instill user-centric thinking and
practices. Exceptional ability to communicate ideas and convince
colleagues and stakeholders through example. - Demonstrated
leadership experience, both with direct reports and multidisciplinary
teams and collaborators, with the ability to influence and teach through
example and collaboration rather than mandate. - Experience
guiding a multidisciplinary team, with the ability to communicate and
collaborate effectively with designers, developers, project managers,
strategists and other skill sets. - Proven experience
developing holistic, consistent, intuitive and delightful user
experiences across multiple digital platforms (e.g. web, mobile,
downloadable applications, social apps, games, etc). - Experience
creating clear, elegant UX documentation (e.g. wireframes, site maps,
user flows) quickly, and fluency with relevant software (e.g.
OmniGraffle, Visio). Deeper experience with production tools (e.g.
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) a significant advantage.
