We believe that cities are humanity’s future, and that they need to be easier to love. Humans evolved for the plains — we’re more Serengeti than SoHo. But now there are seven billion of us, and we need to find ways to live happily while living densely. Smartphones will be the enablers — both in terms of mobility and delight. Lumatic is building photographic maps of the world’s cities for smartphones. We’re replacing bird’s eye view navigation to better serve walkers, cyclists, and transit riders by catering to humans’ visual cognition, curiosity, and social nature.
We’re looking for a iOS front end engineer to work on the development of our pedestrian navigation application. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of our product experience. If you think in Objective-C and have an obsession with mobile app performance, we’d love to get to know you!
Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain our iOS application.  You’ll be developing on top of a well-tested REST API and will have an Android version of the app as a reference.
  • Play a key role working with Product Development/UX designing and implementing new application features.
  • Create/improve best practices/processes for development/testing/deployment.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years Objective-C and iOS experience.
  • A history of developing and shipping iOS applications.
  • Strong knowledge of iOS unit testing and testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Localization, Location Services, MapKit.
  • Experience building client-server network applications/ consuming web services.
  • Passion for detail/obsession for designing mobile app experiences.
Desired:
  • Experience with OAuth/Facebook/Foursquare Auth and APIs.
  • Interest in mobile mapping/navigation.
  • Previous startup experience a big plus.
Why you’ll love this job:
  • We believe in what we do. A lot. We think you will too.
  • Work on interesting (new) problems that you actually care about.
  • Be a part of a kick-ass cross-functional team.
  • Great startup environment (laid back and passionate, simultaneously).
  • Highly flexible vacation policy (a la Amazon).
  • Benefits competitive with much larger companies.
Lumatic is a funded startup located in downtown San Francisco on a mission to make the world’s cities easier to use.  If you believe in loving the journey, taking risks in the pursuit of awesomeness and aiming for big impact, we’re looking for you.
