Good morning agent. Your quest, should you choose to accept it, is to work on a team designing, defining and creating new components of one of the world’s most utilized websites: MapQuest. We need only the brightest and best agents for this position.  Your strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with high energy, ability to take direction, willingness to learn and positive attitude are what will get you through this quest and allow you to shine as the software superhero you really are. The navigational lives of 60 million of people depend on you and your powers of web development: your ability to utilize JavaScript, CSS, HTML and to work with web services utilizing JSON, JSONP, and RESTful patterns.
Think you have what it takes for this quest?
·         Yes, I can collaborate with other team members to create user interfaces, as well as maintain and make use of reusable interface components.
·         Yes, I can implement the presentation and display logic for new platform features.
·         Yes, I understand OS fundamentals, command line tools and basic shell scripting.
·         Yes, I can implement code to improve overall responsiveness and performance of web pages.
·         Yes, I create verification tests and repair defects in my spare time.
As part of your quest, you may be called upon for additional obligations. It’s important you have knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, client side technologies such as AJAX, JSON, JSONP, CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript. Your familiarity with open source software such as Jquery, backbone.js, play framework, selenium will come in handy, as will your understanding of SVN, ANT, GIT and or general configuration management methodologies. Just in case the situation requires it, some experience with creating cross browser HTML/CSS/JS and agile development experience would be a plus.
