Location: San Francisco, CA

Meraki, Inc. is a networking startup headquartered in the Mission District of
San Francisco. We sell robust, scalable, and easy to deploy equipment that
powers over 30 thousand wired and wireless networks worldwide. Our small,
tight-knit engineering team works across the whole stack: from our crisp, “Web
2.0″ UI, to our distributed backend, all the way down to wireless drivers and
mesh routing protocols.
Powerful networking equipment is usually complicated, costly, and confusing,
but it doesn’t need to be. Meraki’s mantra is “Networks that simply work”, and
we strive for simplicity, both in customer experience and our code. We built
Dashboard, a web application that makes monitoring and configuring networks as
easy as editing your Facebook profile. We collect statistics from 50 million
client devices to build beautiful and interactive graphs, pie charts and logs.
And we’re constantly making improvements, from live debugging tools to
intuitive configuration pages that are easy to navigate by novices and pros
We’re looking for sharp, creative engineers who can help take our products to
the next level. Our team is small enough that you will work on important
problems core to our business. You’re comfortable with more than one
programming language, and you can choose an appropriate language for each
task. You aim for efficiency, often choosing to avoid refactoring ugly but
well-tested code. You can prioritize tasks, iterate quickly, and are
comfortable releasing early and often.
We’re looking for talented hackers of all different backgrounds (BS through
PhD) who love building things. An ability to thrive in a group environment and
work in small teams is essential. Here’s a list of sample projects you might
work on at Meraki:
  – Design and build new scripts to collect statistics from customer
    networks around the world
  – Build sharp, clean interfaces to view this data in real-time in an
    intuitive way
  – Develop a slimmed-down version of our web application for mobile devices
  – Update our maps code to use version 3 of the Google Maps API
  – Build tools to manage and deploy new production code to our globally
    distributed servers
  – Write code to improve monitoring of our servers and automate failover
    across machines
  – Profile tens of thousands of requests to our backend, find performance
    bottlenecks, and make improvements
  – Profile and reduce end-to-end firmware boot time
  – Tackle board bring-up for a new platform
  – Design and implement a system for channel selection on multi-radio devices
Meraki is a privately held company founded in 2006. We are based in San
Francisco and backed in part by Google and Sequoia Capital.
