execution of tasks related to the implementation and operation of the Clipper®
fare payment system; work closely with staff from participating transit
agencies and the Clipper® Contractor; coordinate the work of consultants; and
collaborate with MTC’s other Program Coordinators. MTC is seeking someone who
has experience in electronic payments technology, embedded system design, smart
card system design and operations, or automated fare collection. Experience in
transit or other publicly-funded operations programs is desirable. Additional professional work experience is
Metropolitan Transportation Commission, in Oakland California, the Clipper®
Program Coordinator will work under the supervision and direction of a Clipper®
Senior Program Coordinator as MTC’s internal technical resource for the
Clipper® program team. The primary role will be to interact with the Clipper®
Contractor’s technical staff, MTC staff, and transit agency staff to manage,
organize and implement the following tasks:
- Support the expansion of Clipper®
to additional transit agencies and other services, such as parking. Activities
include supporting system requirements, equipment installation, software
testing, and system deployment; verifying technical compliance; and
collaborating with key stakeholders, such as the transit agencies to ensure
- Support monitoring and operation
of the system and troubleshooting of problems related to device and software
performance. Propose system enhancements to improve operation of the Clipper®
- Support development of strategy
for equipment replacement. In close consultation with MTC staff and
consultants, support development of a plan for replacement of existing Clipper®
equipment as it reaches end of life.
- Oversee maintenance requirements
of the contract and ensure that the Clipper Contractor is fulfilling its
maintenance responsibilities. Act as the liaison to transit agency staff
regarding operator maintenance responsibilities.
- Act as the project lead for the
management of accessibility requirements for the Clipper® program. Coordinate
accessibility-related issues with other members of the Clipper® team.
- Prepare and present
reports/initiatives to internal & external audiences & manage feedback
provided by program stakeholders.
- Administer consultant contracts.
As needed, develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluate proposals, negotiate
and manage contracts, process change orders, manage project budgets and
schedules, and negotiate/enforce contractual requirements.
- Perform general liaison duties,
including problem solving, handling of correspondence, and project administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- In most cases, execution of these
tasks requires coordination/collaboration with other members of MTC’s Clipper®
project management team, transit agency staff, staff from the Clipper®
Contractor and other consultants.

computer science, information systems,
or other related field. A Master’s
degree is preferred.
