National Geographic Society: Design Director
Location: Washington, DC
is looking for an experienced Design Director to develop, manage and execute
the user experience and visual design of National Geographic Digital Media’s
website, mobile and interactive products. The Director will oversee and provide
art direction of design work and lead user experience for National Geographic
Digital Media online and interactive products. This includes leading and
developing design layouts, visual elements, and graphic treatments based on
National Geographic branding. The position will focus on developing consistent
and standardized architecture for design layouts that creates a seamless
experience across all devices and platforms, with an emphasis on social
sharing, repeat engagement, and easy access to content.
design team and will have a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in design
and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in online design and at least one
(1) year in mobile products/ apps design.
design and User Interface skills for general audience. Required software skills
include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PowerPoint, HTML, Flash Actions
Scripting, CSS, Wire framing and template organization. Must have leadership
experience in the creation of collaborative, creative and successful work
environments. Must have knowledge in current production environments with
latest technology and software applications to maintain quality of content that
keeps pace with the brand and audience expectations.
