The Oregon Information Division of NIC (NASDAQ: EGOV) is
seeking a talented UX designer with a passion for delivering amazing and
effortless designs and solutions.  Our
growing Salem team is on a mission to knock the socks off the citizens of
Oregon by bringing clean, streamlined design to Oregon’s online services and
Oregon.gov.  To do this we need rock star
designers who think outside of the box and have a desire to push the envelope.
The ideal candidate understands and has experience in full
web design cycle, including: meeting with clients, wire framing, user interface
design, client-side coding, and working with product managers and programmers
for a successful product launch.
You will definitely need all this:
  • A passion
    for delivering solid user experience.
  • Advanced
HTML/CSS knowledge (minimum 3 years). Be prepared to talk about the latest
    developments in HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Understanding
of browser differences with respect to rendering HTML/CSS.  Tell us what works, what doesn’t, and how you
    make it work anyway.
  • Motivation
to set the standards for user experience.
  • Strong
ability to design and build front ends with accessibility in mind. We work for
government agencies, so Section 508 isn’t just a good idea for us. It’s the
    law.
  • Ability to
completely code by hand (no WYSIWYG).
  • High
    attention to detail.
  • A strong
portfolio of your work history.  Not only
what it looks like on the face, but we want to see great semantic code under
    the hood.
  • Photoshop is
a must.  Illustrator and Fireworks are a
    strong plus.
SERIOUS BONUS POINTS for any of the following:
  • JavaScript
(jQuery is our library of choice)
  • Mobile First
    Ideology
  • Responsive
    Design
  • Social Media
  • Experience
in a Microsoft environment, especially SharePoint.
  • A desire to
live on the bleeding edge of the web and make it work.
  • SVN
experience is nice, but not a show stopper.
Who we are:
The Oregon Information Division of NIC is a leading
eGovernment/eCommerce company that helps Oregon government entities Web-enable
