Patch is a new local news company focused on reinventing community journalism one town at a time. We employ a full-time editor for each community we serve, and create personalized news in towns across the country, encouraging participiation from local users with our high-quality content. We’ve been very successful in meeting our goals so far, and with a big expansion planned for 2010, we need your help!
  • We’re looking for experienced web developers who are passionate about web standards and semantic markup and have experience delivering it with Ruby web frameworks. Specifically, you should have:
  •  A passion for JavaScript and UI programming using client-side libraries like jQuery and Prototype.
  •  Knowledge of advanced client-side techniques including optimization, object-oriented architecture, automated testing, and cross-browser development.
  • Experience developing server-side projects with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
  • Demonstrated skill at developing database-backed web applications.
  •  A knack for moving back and forth between front-end and back-end tasks effortlessly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with design, product management, and engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of web standards, CSS-based design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience working with Git or other VCS.
  •  Links to sites you have developed or open source projects you have authored are a huge plus.
