We’re looking
for a lead architect and software developer who is passionate about creating
beautiful web-based applications that make a real difference in people’s health
& wellness.

About Us
Privia
Health is a rapidly growing consumer health & wellness company that’s
leveraging technology to reinvent the practice of medicine for top
doctors.  We’re building a branded
network of membership medical practices where patients get access to better,
more convenient care that’s focused on prevention & wellness.  Some have described us as the “next
generation of personal health management”.
We
launched in 2008 with a subscription business model that’s now getting a lot of
traction.  We’re well capitalized by some
of the leading investors in the health care space and are geared for growth.  Now, we’re turning our focus to rapidly
scaling our Ruby on Rails based technology platform and adding innovative
features that will improve the experience for our users (such as mobile remote
monitoring and wellness tracking apps).
We’re still a small team so we’re perfect for someone who’s looking to
come in and make a big impact, contribute their ideas, and pursue an explosive
growth opportunity.
We’ve
used outside development firm (Viget Labs, www.viget.com) to develop our
initial platform, so now we need your help to oversee our technology vision, expand
our app, develop great code, and begin to recruit an engineering team.  As an early member of the team you will have
significant opportunities to contribute at the highest levels.
Location
Ideally
we’d hire someone who’s based in the Washington DC metro area, however for the
right candidate we’ll consider remote working arrangements.  Our office is located right in the center of
Georgetown, one of the major social centers of DC.

Core Responsibilities

  • You’ll take end-to-end
responsibility for our web application – that includes technical planning,
writing code, testing, and supporting the platform
  • You’ll work closely
with our executive team to shape the strategy and vision of the Privia
Health platform, prioritizing the features we’ll implement, and take the
lead on defining our product road map
  • You’ll help recruit,
interview, hire, mentor, and lead a small team of engineers who can help
    us scale
Technology Skills

  • We’re not looking for a
laundry list of specific buzzwords, technologies, or popular acronyms on
your resume. Right now we’re developing in Ruby on Rails and so you’ll
need a combination of strong skills in Ruby, Rails, RSpec, HTML/CSS,
Javascript, PostgreSQL, Apache, and Linux server management.
  • We appreciate someone
who recognizes the value of, and has experience in, lean company and agile
    development approaches
  • We’d highly value your
experience building consumer/subscription focused web applications that
    have scaled to 100,000+ users
  • You consider yourself
more of a backend developer, but you’re comfortable on the front-end as well,
especially logically extending existing UI patterns as functionality
    evolves.
  • You’re a Mac guy/gal.   No PC’s to be found around here.

Requirements

  • You’re highly
organized, high energy, and a productive person — you aim to achieve a
lot in a day, and you generally do
  • You’re “hands-on” and
willing to spend the greater part of each day coding
  • You’re obsessed with
detail and have a commitment to developing exceptional web applications
that are elegant in both design and function
  • You’ve had experience wearing
many hats in a smaller, growth company environment
  • You’re passionate about
creating a world-class, highly personalized membership experience for
    users
  • You’re comfortable
working in an office or from home as needed
  • You understand and
embrace the advantages and disadvantages of working in an early stage
    business
  • You like the idea of
joining a proven, high energy team of experienced startup entrepreneurs
  • You have a Bachelors’
degree or higher in a relevant subject area
  • You have a permanent
legal right to work within the United States

Compensation
For
the right colleague we’d be targeting a highly competitive compensation package
including full benefits.   If you have
some flexibility, we’d be willing to explore having you start on a contract/part
time basis.
How to Apply
Our company’s growth
prospects are tremendous – so if you’ve ever dreamed of joining a rapid growth business
on the ground floor, where you will make a tangible, positive difference in the
lives of thousands of people… this is your chance.
If you think you have the
skills, experience and passion required to help us better serve our Members,
we’d love to hear from you.
