Candidate Profile:
This position is based in Berlin, Germany. Do you love TDD and Rails? Do you enjoy creating web apps that are fast, reliable, and a pleasure to use? Do you enjoy contributing to open source? You should be very strong on all of the following:
– Build functional applications, prototypes, and features on high-traffic websites
– JavaScript/jQuery, Ruby standard library, database design, HTML+CSS
– Collaborate with other engineering teams to design and implement consumer features
– Well versed in agile practices and committed to test-driven development
– Protocols [HTTP(S), XHR, SMTP, etc)
– Unix/Linux and shell scripting
– Git or Mercurial
You should be passionate about:
– User engagement and flow optimisation
– Security
– A/B testing and usability testing
– Making challenging designs reality
– Building and executing HTML email campaigns
– Experience developing with Ruby on Rails
– Web development experience, preferably using Rails, Python, or Java
– Experience developing Web 2.0 sites and working with lightweight web services
– Experience with JSON, Haml, or Sass is a plus
– Ability to work in a small team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Able to work with cross-functional leads in engineering, product, QA, and operations
– Experience with Agile software development practices
– Experience with large-scale and distributed software architectures
