Location: Clearwater, FL
Who we are:
Spatial networks and Izon Analytics are actively building several green-field projects and growing existing products to meet the expanding marketplace. Much of this is geolocation and mapping based, so we are heavily into new and unique data visualization technologies. We are not a startup; we have been in business for 10 years, profitable and proud.
What we need:
We are looking for truly talented developers with a passion for creating clean, quality software, from unit tests to UI’s. We’re looking for a variety of engineers to expand our team: any mix of Ruby/Rails, iOS, or Android will do.
Can you rock some Objective-C, but want to dig deeper into Ruby? That’s cool. Built a few Android apps that consume a RESTful web API, but want to get into iOS more? Cool-and-the-gang. Basically, you’re the type of person who would be hacking on this stuff even if it wasn’t called “work”.
We would love to hire someone in the Tampa Bay area, but we are open to a remote position as well. Or maybe you want to move to Florida!
What you get to work on:
It’s not maintenance of some tired Rails 2.1 app where the “Service Request Fulfillment Group” is afraid to refactor some stuff. We’re on Rails 3, and we don’t have a “Service Request Fulfillment Group”. We work on solving interesting real-world problems around deep data, geography, and the UI to visualize it all in both web and mobile platforms. There’s also the added benefit that people will actually, you know, use it.
Gratuitous technology buzzword dump:
- HAML / SASS
- Heroku / Amazon EC2/S3
- .NET (just kidding, lol)
What the culture is like:
We are an engineering-centric company, with a very flat management structure, so you’re not going to have 5 bosses telling you about some new TPS report cover sheet. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we’re not afraid to learn and take risks. We also play some serious ping-pong on the regulation size table in the back, where all the video games and Nerf dart guns are kept.
Stuff we’re looking for:
- Passion to do things “the right way” but still get them done
- Some example of your work out in the wild
- Ability to tackle problems you haven’t faced before
- Self-motivation; you identify and fix problems without being asked
- Familiarity with designing and consuming REST-based web service API’s
- Familiarity with relational database design concepts
- Familiarity with document-oriented database concepts
