Job Description
  • Define
    the user model and design user interfaces for internal and external GrubHub
    products
  • Develop
    high level and detailed prototypes and wireframes to communicate your ideas and
    test with users
  • Ready
    to provide feedback about the usability of our existing products and
    communicate ways in which issues can be resolved
  • Write
    production-ready HTML, CSS, and Javascript code for our web-based products
  • Document
    interaction design methods, so the process gets easier as time goes on
  • Work
    with the Marketing team to understand current pain points and product needs
  • Work
    with other designers and researchers to ensure usable designs
 
Job Requirements
  • UI
    Design Prototyping
  • Expert
    HTML and CSS skills
  • Expert
    knowledge of Javascript (and jQuery in particular) for rapid prototyping and
    production code
  • You
    should have working knowledge of:
  • Traditional,
    Discount, and Remote usability testing methods, Usability benchmarking, Field
    Studies and Contextual Inquiry, Multivariate Testing, A/B Testing, User
    Observation and Interviews, Human Factors/ Ergonomics, Survey Design, Persona
    Development, Task Analysis, Mental Models, General Interface Design Principles,
    Search Engine Optimization, Conversion Rate Optimization
  • Strong,
    clear visual design skills and the ability to work well with our creative team
  • Mad
    communication skillz – verbal, written, and presentation
  • Ability
    to work directly with Designers, Marketers, Engineers, and the rest of our team
  • Advanced
    degree(s) preferred in computer science, human computer interaction, cognitive
    science, experimental psychology, anthropology, information science, or

Job responsibilities

Create engaging visual communications.  Continuously challenge the team and yourself
to develop engaging, powerful creative that communicates our key messages. Demonstrate
design integrity in your work, and collaborate with our seasoned brand guardian
to ensure all visual communications are true to the GrubHub brand.

Lead, mentor, and inspire the team.  You will be responsible for developing the
creative team – and will be equally interested in creating incredible work as

Creative collaborator.  This is not a purely management position –
you will be doing design daily, and will be eager to design whatever comes your

Manage agencies and freelancers as needed to

Manage project timelines, logistics and
personnel. You will regularly communicate clear priorities and required

Work closely with User Experience Team to challenge

Who you are.

Have over 10 years of practical, relevant experience
in developing on- and offline advertising, promotions, web design, trade, and other
consumer and trade materials in both B2B and B2C environments.
–      
Have a design-related bachelor‘s degree.
–      
Have extensive experience working closely with
art directors, designers, photographers, copywriters, and agencies/external
firms.
–      
You must have a deep understanding of the goals
of a commerce driven web site, and have a clear understanding of SEO,
conversion rates, bounce rates, etc…
–      
Have experience building, leading, and mentoring
a team of designers.
