The Robot Co-op has been building social websites like 43 Things, 43 Places, and Lists of Bests for the last 7 years. Now we are working on an online shopping game called Shop for Fun and we need a talented designer to help us build it.
What is it like to work at the Robot Co-op?  We enjoy working on new projects that we start from scratch. We try to build ideas that attract passionate communities of users and spread without any paid marketing. We are data driven and make use of experimentation to measure results.  We are incrementalists and like to iterate the product and ship often. We are frugal and revenue focused. We live in Seattle and sit in the same room around one big table. We are a subsidiary of Amazon.com and we pay competitive salaries with good benefits and equity compensation.  If this sounds like a good match, read on to learn about the skills needed to fill the position.
What we’re looking for:
  • A strong sense of design and usability across multiple contexts (web, mobile, messaging)
  • The ability to design in HTML + CSS (fluency in HTML5 and CSS3)
  • The ability to communicate clearly about design rationale, and to add clarity to experiences
  • Experience shipping applications to the public, and learning from the public’s reaction
  • Initiative, self-direction, and a sense of ownership of product design quality
  • Skill with visual design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • A love of creating fast, low-fidelity mockups (pen + paper, Omnigraffle, Balsamiq, etc)
  • Curiosity about statistics, measurement and experimentation
Bonus:
  • E-commerce or fashion industry experience
  • Skills in client-side development (javascript, jquery)
  • Experience with mobile app development (iOS, Android)
To apply, please submit:
  • Your resume or Linkedin profile.
  • Your dribbble, behance, github, blog, twitter, or design/code samples where useful.
  • A quick note on why you’re excited to join our team.
