Wanted: Full Time Front-End Web Developer
Vector Media Group is looking for a full-time front-end web developer in the New York City area to join our team immediately. We’re a growing interactive agency with great clients (like The Economist, Nielsen, New York City, and and an incredible roadmap.
Our office is in the Union Square area of Manhattan. You’d be working in our office 5 days a week but we’re flexible with times: some of us get in at 8 and leave at 4, and some get in at 10:30 and leave at 6:30. The important thing is just getting your work done and having some fun. Our dev team also tries to eat lunch together multiple times per week — and we pay for it!
Our development projects typically make use of HTML5 and jQuery and are usually ExpressionEngine-based. You don’t need to know ExpressionEngine to join our team, but it would be helpful. You do need to have a passion for learning about and understanding changing web technologies. We need someone who loves keeping up-to-date on the newest advancements and can figure out when to start applying those advancements to client work. (We’ll help you do that, by sending you to conferences and buying the books and resources you’re interested in).
Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Development of browser-friendly HTML, CSS, and JavaScript from PSDs. You don’t need to be a designer.
  • Working closely with our backend development team on site projects. We’ll want and expect your input on the best ways to structure the build — from start to finish.
  • Helping with both new projects and maintenance/improvements for existing clients.
  • Talking with clients regularly.
  • If you have ExpressionEngine knowledge, some full EE site implementation. If you don’t, a willingness to learn.

Familiarity With Either Of These Is Helpful, But Not Required:
  • Version control. We’re completely on Git but all of us started on SVN.
  • Mobile development frameworks, such as jQuery Mobile and Sencha Touch.
