Job Description:
We are looking for truly talented Ruby developers with a passion for clean code and great products. Our current technology stack includes Ruby on Rails & Sinatra, and we’re in the process of building a number of “pure Ruby” components. We’re also using some NoSQL solutions – at the moment, Redis and Cassandra are regular tools. This list gets longer as our problems change, so you’ll need to be excited about learning and applying new solutions.
We work with the Twitter and Facebook APIs every day, so experience with OAuth or external APIs of any kind is a major plus. We also use Git – you don’t need to be a ninja (you can learn from our resident expert) but you should be familiar with it.
We’re all “full-stack” developers, so whilst you don’t necessarily need to know the ins-and-outs of Javascript lexical scoping, you should probably know what $() does in jQuery (we also use Prototype, either is fine). The usual CSS/HTML familiarity is a given. 😉
We care about quality. Writing unit tests using modern framework like Shoulda, RSpec, or Cucumber should be second nature to you, and you should be comfortable performing and receiving code reviews.
We are working on an exciting mix of improving and scaling our highly successful existing apps, developing entirely new apps, and taking our overall architecture to the next level.
Our team is fast, smart and independent. Many of our developers are Rails Core Contributors, and we encourage Open Source contributions and community participation. It’s a fun team to work with based in a really cool office in Palo Alto, California. You can check out the team here: http://github.com/wildfireapp.
You should be willing to relocate to the Bay Area.
If you’re interested, please send us:
  • Your github username
  • A short description of something really cool you’ve worked on – code or tech-related, and preferably as your own project rather than something as part of an existing job. Perhaps a Ruby gem, or an iPhone app – surprise us!
